WATFORD CITY – A Plaza man was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop in McKenzie County earlier this month. According to the Northwest Narcotics Task Force, it obtained information regarding a suspected drug run destined for Plaza. New seven-story hotel tower to open

NEW TOWN – 4 Bears Casino & Lodge will celebrate the grand opening of its newly completed seven-story hotel tower on Friday, Sept. 4. An opening ceremony will be private due to limited space. The ceremony will include an opening prayer, drum group, remarks from MHA Nation tribal council and 4 Bears leadership, and a grand opening recognition. The celebration will continue that evening with singer John Waite in concert in the Grand Ballroom.

Produced water spill occurs near Williston

WILLISTON – Chord Energy notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) of a produced water spill resulting from a pipeline leak in Williams County. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 25, approximately 13 miles northwest of Williston. Chord Energy estimates approximately 210 barrels or 8,820 gallons of crude oil and produced water were released, impacting rangeland. Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas production. NDDEQ personnel have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.

Zoo mourns loss of senior warthog

The Roosevelt Park Zoo announced on Thursday, Aug. 27, the peaceful passing of Diane, a 12-year-old female warthog, due to ongoing health issues related to her age. Warthogs typically live 7-11 years in the wild, but can live into their teens under proper human care. Diane passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 26, surrounded by her animal care team. Diane arrived at the Roosevelt Park Zoo in 2016.
