BISMARCK - The ND HOPE Project's free fall webinar series begins Tuesday, Oct. 20, at noon with "The Birds and the Bees for the 2020s: 'The Talk' Your Parents Gave You Doesn't Cut It Anymore," presented by Dr. Janet Rosenzweig, author of “The Sex-Wise Parent.”
Rosenzweig will walk parents and caregivers through how to talk with youth about sex, dating and consent, in a world that looks very different from the one most parents grew up in.
"As parents and caregivers, we can't assume someone else will have these important conversations with our children," said Lindsey Burkhardt of Families Flourish ND, who will moderate the session. "Topics like respect, healthy relationships and consent are essential to their safety. We have to get comfortable in the uncomfortable, because our children are depending on us."
The session is free online and open to anyone, including parents, caregivers and professionals working with children. It is the first of six free webinars in the ND HOPE Project's fall series, running through December. Future webinar topics include pornography, children with problematic sexual behaviors and a youth panel that will share what they're doing online. Registration is free at www.ndhopeproject.org.
The ND HOPE Project is a coalition of seven North Dakota nonprofits working together to prevent child abuse and exploitation through community education and awareness. Formed in early 2026, the coalition brings together organizations from across the state to give North Dakota families practical tools and trusted information on keeping children safe.
