International Peace Garden celebrates peace, friendship

The International Peace Garden celebrates peace and friendship between the United States and Canada. The nearly 2,400-acre Peace Garden is situated along the longest undefended international border in the world. It is located about 20 miles north of Dunseith on the U.S. side and about 17 miles south of Boissevian, Manitoba. The Shirley Bicentennial Park, more commonly known as the Scandinavian Heritage Park, is open from May 17-Oct. 1. Volunteers are stationed at the Gol Stave church during this season Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The park honors five countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland – and is the only park in the world dedicated to all five. Cancer can be a scary diagnosis, and nearly everyone has been touched in some way by its reality. Members of Minot Pink Ladies each have their own stories of how cancer diagnoses in family and friends have impacted their lives. It was for that reason they came together through a dart league to raise money to help individuals facing cancer battles.
