T’Anna Beede, Minot, to go to trial on unlawful imprisonment charge

T’Anna Patricia Beede, 21, will go to trial Feb. 22, 2019, on a charge that she helped Taylor Raymond Laducer, 23, hold their former roommate against his will on May 18 in a dispute over unpaid rent.

The state dropped a Class B felony robbery and a Class C felony accomplice to aggravated assault charge against Beede in September. She is still charged with Class A misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment.

Laducer pleaded guilty in August to reduced charges of Class A misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment and Class A misdemeanor assault. He was sentenced to 360 days on both charges, all suspended but the 91 days he had already served in jail, and 18 months of supervised probation. The state has filed to revoke his probation in that case.

Both Laducer and Beede had originally been charged with Class B felony kidnapping and robbery. Laducer had been charged with Class C felony aggravated assault. The charges were later reduced or dismissed. The state acknowledged that the initial allegation of kidnapping was not substantiated by the evidence and it could not prove the essential elements of the offense of robbery beyond a reasonable doubt.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim told police that Laducer and Beede drove him out into the country, where Laducer hit him in the head with a small metal softball bat and also struck him in the ribs with brass knuckles. Laducer and Beede then left their roommate by the side of the road and he walked to a neighboring house in the middle of the night to seek help.
