Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot has a new resident.

A black-footed ferret arrived at the zoo this past week from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado.

The Minot zoo is the 22nd zoo in the country to become home to one of these animals, zoo officials said.

The ferret is an adult male named Oshkosh and now lives in a new habitat inside the Discovery Barn.

Black-footed ferrets are native to shortgrass prairie like that in North Dakota.

Oshkosh will help the zoo expand its North Dakota native species collection.
