Women’s Wrestling: Beavers fall in close dual with Jamestown

The Minot State women’s wrestling team led early, but the University of Jamestown rallied by winning the final three matches, knocking off the Beavers, 23-18, on Sunday, Jan. 18, in Jamestown. The Beavers (5-6) won four matches – two coming by way of forfeits. Minot State took an early 10-0 lead after a pair of forfeits at 103 and 110 pounds. The Minot State men’s basketball team wasn’t able to climb out of sizable halftime deficits in either of its weekend contests, dropping a 72-60 decision to Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Jan. 16, and its fourth straight conference game against Sioux Falls, 95-73, on Saturday, Jan. 17. Minot State redshirt sophomore guard Taryn Hamling netted a career-high 30 points, helping the women’s basketball team rally from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter for an 83-65 victory over Sioux Falls on Saturday, Jan. 17. All five starters finished in double figures. Hamling hit 11 of 20 shots and went 6-for-11 from the 3-point line.
