Women’s Hockey: Beavers make league history in 3-point weekend

For the seventh time this season, the Minot State women’s hockey team neither won nor lost, skating to a 0-0 tie with Midland University on Friday, Jan. 30, at Maysa Arena. The seventh tie set a new ACHA record for the most in history. It was the second time this season the Beavers have tied Midland. They also have a pair of ties against Adrian and one tie each against Niagara, Arizona State and McKendree. Jillian Ackerman made 37 saves for the Beavers, who were outshot 37-29. The Minot State men’s hockey team produced one of its highest scoring outputs of the season while goaltender Blake Sittler made 17 saves for his first collegiate shutout in a 7-0 victory over Midland University on Sunday, Feb. 1, at Maysa Arena. Colby Joseph and Walker Jerome scored two goals apiece as the top-ranked Beavers recorded their 20th win of the season and completed a season sweep of the Warriors in the process. Men’s Basketball: Beavers drop 8th straight in tight contest with Winona State

Lovasoa Andriatsarafara recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds off the bench and four others scored in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as the Minot State men’s basketball team suffered its eighth straight defeat, falling to Winona State, 67-62, on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McCown Gymnasium. The Minot State women’s basketball team rallied to get to within four-points of the lead in the third quarter, but faded down the stretch in a 74-64 loss to Winona State on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McCown Gymnasium. The Beavers (9-14 overall, 6-10 NSIC) trailed 40-31 at half and the Warriors never surrendered the lead in the second half. Taryn Hamling led the Beavers with 18 points. Boys Wrestling: Minot United wins WDA duals over Turtle Mountain, Jamestown

The Minot United boys wrestling team doubled its win total in WDA duals in a matter of hours with a pair of convincing victories over Jamestown and Turtle Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 31. Minot United started the day with a 71-5 victory over the Blue Jays and ended it with a 48-25 win against the Braves. Girls Wrestling: Ost, Racine win Belle of the Brawl titles

Minot United’s Brooklyn Ost went 4-0 with three pins in her first three matches to capture the 100-pound title and Madisyn Racine won all five of her matches for the crown in the 124-pound division in the Belle of the Brawl tournament in Casselton on Saturday, Jan. 31. Overall, Minot United placed seven wrestlers in the top six en route to a third-place finish as a team with 179 points.
