Girls Wrestling: Minot United earns West’s No. 2 seed for State Dual Tournament

The Minot United girls wrestling team won three duals over the weekend to lock down the No. 2 seed out of the West Region in the upcoming State Dual Tournament. Minot United opened the weekend knocking off Bismarck Century, 51-21, and Turtle Mountain, 39-33, on Friday, Feb. 6, at Magic City Campus and then traveled to Dickinson the following day, securing a 45-28 win. Boys Swimming & Diving: Magicians 5th, Sentinels 8th at Century Invite

Tayson Solper won the 1-meter diving event and Luke Neumann finished second in both of his individual events as the Minot High boys swimming & diving team finished fifth at the Century Invite on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Bismarck Aquatic Center. The Magicians finished with a team score of 252.5. Bismarck Century took the top spot in three individual events and two relays and dominated the home meet with 429.5 points. Men’s Basketball: Benjamin beats buzzer, Beavers top Bulldogs

Deuce Benjamin had a game-high 26 points, and none were bigger than his final two, as the redshirt junior guard knocked down a jumper with three seconds left in regulation to lift the Minot State men’s basketball team to an 85-83 victory over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the MSU Dome. Women’s Basketball: Furious 4th-quarter rally falls just short for Beavers

The Minot State women’s basketball team nearly erased an 19-point second-half deficit in a 74-71 loss to Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the MSU Dome. The Beavers (10-15 overall, 7-11 NSIC) went into halftime trailing 44-25, but shot nearly 77 percent in the third quarter to cut the deficit down to 10 heading into the fourth quarter. Men’s Wrestling: Beavers drop close dual against Dragons

The Minot State men’s wrestling team were in striking distance late of capturing their second conference win of the season, but Minnesota State Moorhead won the final two matches of the night to solidify a 27-17 victory over the Beavers on Saturday, Feb. 7. Cole Faircloth recorded Minot State’s lone pin of the match, submitting Brody Toledo in 2 minutes, 40 seconds at 133 pounds. The Beavers won four of the 10 matches overall. The Minot State women’s wrestling team dominated its third and final meeting of the season with the University of Jamestown, winning eight of nine matches in its 37-6 dual victory on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the MSU Dome. The Beavers (7-7) recorded two pins, a technical fall and a decision to win the rubber match against their in-state rival. They also won four matches via forfeit.
