Girls Wrestling: Ost, Racine win Belle of the Brawl titles
Minot United’s Brooklyn Ost went 4-0 with three pins in her first three matches to capture the 100-pound title and Madisyn Racine won all five of her matches for the crown in the 124-pound division in the Belle of the Brawl tournament in Casselton on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Overall, Minot United placed seven wrestlers in the top six en route to a third-place finish as a team with 179 points. Bismarck Legacy took the top spot with 205.5 points, producing victors in Scelia Maneze at 106 and Alicia Kenfack at 112. Lisbon (200.5), Turtle Mountain (153) and Bismarck Century (130.5) rounded out the top five.
Ost – the top seed in the 100 bracket – earned a first-round bye and opened her day with a pin of New Salem-Almont’s Avrey Reinke in 59 seconds. Ost won her first three matches via pins, before scoring a 9-7 decision over Mayport-C-G’s Evie Satrom in the title match. Ost earned two points for a reversal with two seconds remaining in the final round to claim the title.
Racine was the No. 2 seed in the 124 bracket and earned pins in her first four matches. Her first two pins came in the first round and both her quarterfinal and semifinal matches went into the second round. Racine captured the title with a 12-3 major decision against South Border’s Ava Litsey.
Maycee Boyce was the runner-up in the 148-pound bracket with three victories. Khylie Schlotz won four matches en route to a third-place finish at 112. Fatimazahra took fourth at 118 and both Payton Russell (130) and Jade’ence Fletcher (190) placed sixth.
