Tayson Solper won the 1-meter diving event and Luke Neumann finished second in both of his individual events as the Minot High boys swimming & diving team finished fifth at the Century Invite on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Bismarck Aquatic Center.

The Magicians finished with a team score of 252.5. Bismarck Century took the top spot in three individual events and two relays and dominated the home meet with 429.5 points. Bismarck Legacy finished a distant second with 272 points. Fargo Davies finished just behind Legacy with 271 points and Dickinson took fourth with 260 points. Ten teams competed in the event – eight from the West Region.

Solper delivered the lone event win for the Magicians. He scored a 378.35 on the diving board, beating out Century’s Bridger Huelsman, who scored a 373.60. Minot High placed both of its divers inside the top five, with Holden Williams taking fourth with 348.85 points.

Neumann had the strongest showing of the meet for the Magicians. He placed second in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2 minutes, 11.85 seconds. Fargo Davies’ Greg Meidinger won the event in 2:09.39. Meidinger had the only win among the two East Region representatives.

Neumann just missed out on the title in the 100 freestyle. Neumann touched the wall at 50.49 seconds, just behind Dickinson’s Bohdan Shevchenko, who finished in 49.95 seconds.

Isaac Vallie won both the 200 and 500 freestyle and William Carlson won the 100 backstroke for Century, which also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Dickinson had the second-most event victories with three, claiming the 200 medley relay, 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Vincent Keller won both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly for Mandan.

Minot North scored 159 points to finish eighth. Jameson Langager had the top finish for the Sentinels, placing third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.80. Barrett Hannegrefs finished sixth in the 100 freestyle and Tim Sharp-Driver took eighth in the 200 freestyle.
