Women’s Wrestling: Beavers win rubber match with Jimmies

The Minot State women’s wrestling team dominated its third and final meeting of the season with the University of Jamestown, winning eight of nine matches in its 37-6 dual victory on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the MSU Dome.

The Beavers (7-7) recorded two pins, a technical fall and a decision to win the rubber match against their in-state rival. They also won four matches via forfeit. Skye Shelmerdine needed just 32 seconds to earn the pin for the Beavers in her match against Kiera Hagman at 124 pounds. Aniya Herbin pinned Celia Jaeger in 4:25 at 207.

Lovey Beebe earned a 14-2 technical fall over Abby Ewing in 3:58 at 131 pounds and Haleigh Lematta scored an 8-0 decision against Ann Meiman at 145 pounds.

Emily Novak won Jamestown’s lone match, pinning Madilyn Schuck in 1:00 at 180 pounds.

The Beavers won their first matchup with the Jimmies, 28-9, back on Nov. 16 as part of the NSIC duals. Jamestown (2-3) claimed the second meeting, 23-18, at home on Jan. 18.
