Prep Wrestling: Minot United competes at Rumble on the Red
Many of the top wrestling boys and girls programs across five states met in Fargo over the weekend to compete in the two-day Rumble on the Red at the Fargodome. Among the competing teams were both the Minot United boys and girls teams.
The Minot United girls placed third overall with 170 points, placing eight wrestlers in the top eight of their respective weight classes. Brooklyn Ost had the top performance of the event for Minot United, taking second at 100 pounds. Madisyn Racine (130) and Maycee Boyce (148) both won their third-place matches. Monica Boakye claimed victory in the fifth-place match at 112, defeating teammate Khylie Schlotz, who took sixth.
Ella Brown (106) and Fatimazahra Elbouab (118) each won their seventh-place matches and Riley Hansen (142) took eighth. Minot United had a total of 18 wrestlers in the competition.
The boys program had just four wrestlers compete in the individual competition: Jack Combs (107), Korbin Kraft (139), Gavin Tanberg (160) and Tucker Nelson (215). Combs was the lone placer, winning his seventh-place match. Minot United finished with 24 points for a 41st-place finish.
Teams from North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana and Nebraska competed. Among the teams representing North Dakota included Bishop Ryan, Des Lacs-Burlington, Rugby, Stanley and Velva. Seven teams from the WDA were represented.
