Men’s Wrestling: Beavers overwhelmed in pair of dual losses
It was a rough weekend on the mat for the men’s wrestling team, as it won just one of its 20 matches in its duals with Parkside and Minnesota State. The Beavers were shutout by Parkside, 56-0, on Saturday, Jan. 17, and fell 43-3 to Minnesota State on Sunday, Jan. 18.
Shafer Ehmke delivered Minot State’s lone victory, scoring a 7-5 decision over Minnesota State’s Grant Cook at 197 pounds.
Parkside won seven of its matches via pin. The Rangers (8-2 overall, 3-1 NSIC) also scored a win via technical fall, decision and forfeit. Gavin Turk went the distance with Parkside’s Dajun Johnson at 174, but fell 6-0.
The Beavers (4-8, 1-4) only dropped three matches via pins against the Mavericks. Turk, Payton Wayman and Braxton Rance all went the distance in their respective matches. Turk dropped a 4-1 decision, Wayman fell 8-1 and Rance lost a close 5-2 match.
Minnesota State (10-3, 3-1) received two wins via technical fall and another via forfeit.
Minot State travels to Bismarck for a non-conference dual with Bismarck State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
