Boys Basketball: Minot High tops Saints; Minot North falls to Sabers
Drew Jordan finished with a game-high 20 points and was one of four Magicians to finish in double figures, as the Minot High boys basketball team cruised past Bismarck St. Mary’s, 66-44, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Magic City Campus.
Jordan led the Magicians’ 3-point offense, going 6-for-10 from distance. Minot High hit 13 3s in the game. Oakley Trueblood scored 12 points and Patrick Shanahan and Tayvin Archer each added 10. Archer finished two assists shy of a double-double.
The Magicians (8-5 overall, 6-4 WDA) held the Saints to just 15 points in the first half, grabbing a 19-point advantage heading into the break. St. Mary’s shot 34 percent from the field.
Christian Benning led the Saints (6-7, 3-7) with 17 points.
Minot High travels to play Bismarck High on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7:45 p.m.
Minot North kept Bismarck Legacy under the 100-point mark unlike the first time the two teams played this season, but the Sabers still cruised to an 85-44 victory.
The Sabers (9-4, 7-3) shot 50 percent from the field and 51.6 percent from 3, knocking down 16 of 31 attempts. Brody Weigel and Aiden Schmidt both scored 14 points to lead the Sabers, combining to go 6-for-11 from distance.
The Sentinels (2-11, 2-8) committed 23 turnovers, leading to 21 points by the Sabres. Legacy held a 34-20 edge in points in the paint and 16-6 in second chance points.
Brayden Blikre poured in a game-high 22 points and hit five 3-pointers for the Sentinels.
Minot North hosts Dickinson on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7:45 p.m.
