Bengals OL Volson, former Bison, likely out for season

Cordell Volson

The Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive line are down a man after former North Dakota State University player Cordell Volson suffered a shoulder injury that will likely have him out for the season.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday, August 20 that reserve guard Cordell Volson will require surgery for an injury to his right shoulder. Taylor expects that the surgery will have Volson out for the entirety of the NFL season. Volson received the injury during practice on Friday, August 15.

“That’s a tough one for him,” Coach Taylor said. “He’s been a guy that’s really worked hard for us. I wouldn’t say it’s set in stone until he has the surgery, but that’s the direction it seems to be heading.”

Volson was previously a member of the North Dakota State University Bisons’ OL as an offensive tackle. He played for the Bisons from 2016 through 2021. In 2021, Volson was a member of the Associated Press All-America First Team, Stats Perform All-America First Team, HERO Sports All-America First Team, Athlon Sports All-America First Team and the 2021 AFCA All-America First Team.

Volson was the fourth round selection for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 NFL Draft. Volson won the starting position at left guard as a rookie. In his rookie season, Volson saw 1,107 snaps, more than any other Bengals player that season.

Starting at $2.99/week.
