Tots at Rox in second of two-game series

The Minot Hot Tots were in St. Cloud, MN for their July 25 game as part of a two-games series against the Rox.

The Hot Tots came into the game with a four-game losing streak, dropping their series against the Badlands Big Sticks 3-1 and losing their first game of the series against the St. Cloud Rox. July 25’s game did not start out much more promising.

Minot was unable to secure their first run until they reached the top of the third inning when Ryan Castro hit a single into right field. The next three batters were putout, struck out and putout again to end the top. The Hot Tots saw just ten total batters in the entirety of the first three innings.

Alex Dupuy of the St. Cloud Rox earned the first run of the game in the bottom of the third off of a homerun, the first of his 2025 season. The score was just 0-1 at the end of the third.

Matt Toomey tried to kick start Minot in the top of the fourth with a single into right field. He was quickly followed up by Blake Cavill with an error at shortstop getting two Tots on base for the first time during the July 25 game. Two popouts and a putout at first ended the inning without either Toomey or Cavill able to make it back home.

An RBI into right field allowed the Rox to score an additional run during the bottom of the fourth. St. Cloud was able to score again off of a walk on loaded bases thrown by Braden Booth. Nolan Girard came out of the Hot Tots bullpen to relieve Booth before a sac-fly earned the Rox their fourth run of the game. A fifth run was scored before a pickle between first and second ended the inning with a 0-5 score.

Neither team scored in the fifth inning leaving a 0-5 score with the St. Rox leading at deadline. Check July 28’s paper for final results.
