Sentinels girls’ soccer washes St. Mary’s away 4-0

The Minot North Sentinels girls’ soccer team braved the wind and rain in their Thursday night match against the St. Mary’s Saints at home.

Minot North junior Julia Lewis had a strong showing in the first half of the game against the Saints. Lewis was able to secure the Sentinels an early lead, scoring in the fifth minute of the game into the top of the net, just over the goalie’s hands. She was assisted by sophomore Kholee Roberts.

Lewis kept up the momentum for the Sentinels with another goal in the 13th minute, bringing the score to 2-0. She secured the goal after a short battle for ball control left the ball and the defense wide open.

The Sentinels and Saints were able to hold each other off for the rest of the half, leaving the score at 2-0 for the Sentinels.

The second half started out just as explosive as the first for Minot North as Roberts widened the Sentinel’s lead to 3-0 in the 46th minute.

A quick pass from Lewis through the Saint’s defense left Roberts unguarded as she was able to rocket the ball past the goalie into the middle of the net.

The last goal of the night was scored once again by Roberts in the 52nd minute of the match. She was able to make just enough room around her defenders to angle the ball just past the goalie.

The game was called in the 58th minute of the match citing player safety due to lighting present in the area.

The game’s early end meant the score would stay 4-0 for the Sentinels.
