The Minot State Beavers will take on the University of Jamestown Jimmies at home at Herb Parker Stadium this Saturday, October 11.
Saturday’s game will mark the first time the two teams have played since 2010. STarting this season, the University of Jamestown made their way up to NCAA Division II after transitioning from NAIA for this season. Earlier, the University of Jamestown was approved for the NCAA Division II expedited membership process, meaning the Jimmies have just one year remaining as a provisional member, and could become a full NCAA Division II member in the 2026-27 school year. This year is also the Jimmies’ first as a member of the the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and have been playing a full NSIC schedule for this season.
Historically, the University of Jamestown is the first team the Beavers will have faced in the season so far where they have a winning record. Of the nine total games the Beavers have played against the Jimmies, the Beavers have come out on top five times. The Beavers ended their last game against the Jimmies capping off a three-game winning streak with a score of 19-14. The teams’ first matchup was back in 2004, where the Beavers conquered the Jimmies 17-6. Over the course of their nine games, The Beavers have scored a total of 197 points, averaging 21.89 points per game.
Both teams are coming into Saturday’s game with just one win for the season so far and are both looking to improve their records.
Saturday’s game isn’t just a reunion for the teams either, it will be a reunion on the field for the Ruzicka brothers. Redshirt junior for the University of Jamestown Hunter Ruzicka graduated from Minot High School back in 2022, and his younger brother, redshirt freshman for Minot State University, Tyson Ruzicka graduated Minot High School in 2024. The two brothers and the two teams will meet back up at Herb Parker Stadium at 2 p.m. this Saturday, October 11.
