DULUTH, Minn. – Minot State sophomore Zaccharius Brown provided the highlight of the weekend for the Beavers.

Racing in the middle of the pack early in the 400-meter hurdles, Brown accelerated out of the final corner, racing to a 2nd-place finish and All-NSIC honors Saturday on the final day of the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Brown brought home the top finish of the weekend for the Minot State men’s and women’s track and field teams. The Beaver men placed 10th with 17 team points and the women placed 12th with 12 team points.

Brown’s runner-up finish earned Minot State 8 of those team points with his 53.53 seconds finish, second only to Minnesota State Moorhead’s Manjot Singh who won the event title with 52.70 seconds.

The Beaver hurdler’s effort was one of three performances that added to the Minot State men’s team total on Saturday. Both Evan Hartt and Peyton Tuhy had career-best days in the discus and 800 meters, respectively, each earning a place on the podium as well.

Hartt turned in his best-ever throw in the discus by more than 14 feet, finishing 4th in the NSIC with a throw of 168 feet, 10 inches.

Tuhy ran his fastest 800 ever in 1 minute, 53.46 seconds to finish 5th in the NSIC.

While they led the way for the Minot State men, Summer Krebsbach, Erica Nelson, and the women’s 4×400-meter relay team added points to the Beaver women’s team total on the final day of the Championships.

Krebsbach earned a spot on the podium in the women’s 200 meters with a time of 25.03 seconds and an 8th-place finish, while Nelson also placed 8th in the javelin with a throw of 123-10 to land on the podium.

Krebsbach also figured into the Minot State women’s best finish on the day as the Beavers were 7th in the 4×400 relay in 3 minutes, 56.64 seconds. Krebsbach ran the final leg of the relay, finishing strong after the performance of teammates Bailey Wride, Sidra Sadowsky, and Afton Wride.

The NSIC Championships wrap up the season for the majority of the Minot State track and field teams’ student-athletes with only the NCAA Outdoor National Championships left on the schedule.

Krebsbach and men’s hurdler Nasir Dilworth are the only Beavers to hit NCAA qualifying standards this season as Krebsbach hit an NCAA mark in the women’s 100 meters (11.73 seconds) and Dilworth in the men’s 110-meter hurdles (14.10 seconds). Both will wait and see if their time is fast enough to earn a spot at the NCAA National Championships hosted by Colorado State Pueblo, May 22-24.

The NCAA Championship field will be announced this coming week.

Starting at $2.99/week.
