Kari Gibb/MDN South Prairie-Max senior Azjiah Trader (3) in action earlier this season was named the 2024 District 12 Senior Athlete of the Year.

The regular season is competed for the Class B volleyball season. The district 12 volleyball tournament for region seeding is also completed. As the regular season and district tournaments came to an end, the coaches voted and the honors for the year have begun to unfold.

The senior athlete of the year for the district 12 volleyball teams is no surprise. South Prairie-Max senior Azjiah Trader was named as the top player from the district while her coach, Keturah Schwerzrock was named the district 12 coach of the year as well.

While the Royals have been the highest ranked team in the state from the district 12 teams, it was Our Redeemer’s Christian School that edged South Prairie-Max as the top seeded team headed into the district 12 tournament.

In the tournament, despite the energetic win in the first frame of the championship game by the Knights, it was the Royals that came out on top of the tournament with Our Redeemer’s as the second team.

Fittingly, both teams had four players voted onto the 2024 All District 12 Team.

Des Lacs-Burlington had three athletes with one being the youngest member of the roster as Piper Feller, a freshman, was voted onto the team.

Glenburn, Bishop Ryan and Berthold each had one player voted onto the team as well.

The majority of the all district 12 team will be with their teams at the region 6 tournament that begins on Monday, November 11, at the Minot Auditorium and concludes on Thursday, November 14, in preparation for Class B state play.
