Redeemer’s upsets South Prarie-Max 3-2

The gym was packed with fans from both teams. The vibe was that of a postseason playoff game. With both teams ranked in Class B and both teams vying for top spot in region six, district 12 standings for postseason seeding- it actually was something of a playoff game.

Our Redeemer’s made the trip to try and improve on the number eight rank while South Prairie-Max hosted and looked to defend on their number five rank. Given the talent and desire on either side of the net, the game went all five frames with the Knights winning 20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 24-26 and 15-12 over the Royals to shake up the standings.

Our Redeemer’s was led by Tavia Carlson with 13 kills and two blocks at the net. Noel Pankratz, Lauren Strom and Mikayla Altringer each added seven kills while Strom had two blocks as well. Olivia Ebel recorded 34 digs and three aces while Carlson added 29 digs as well.

Kadyn Braun had 27 digs and three aces in the win. Grace Olson had 34 assists and 19 digs in the game for the Knights.

South Prairie-Max was led by Azjiah Trader with 21 kills and five blocks at the net. Skotti Beck had 14 kills and Reagan Trudell recorded 58 assists and two aces in the effort.

Keira Francis posted eight kills and an ace while Delaney Hankel had 25 digs. Hailey Sys also had 20 digs for the Royals in the game.

Top ranked Linton-HMB was a 3-0 winner over Ellendale while second ranked Central Cass swept Hankinson 3-0 as well. The third ranked Central McLean were 3-0 winners over New Salem-Almont while fourth ranked Dickinson Trinity swept New England 3-0 to hold their slots.

Our Redeemer’s will host Glenburn on Thursday, October 10, while South Prairie-Max will travel to Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood the same day.
