MSU women’s hockey ranked No. three in preseason poll

With puck-drop on another season of ice hockey action just a few weeks away, the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) announced its preseason women’s hockey poll and the 2-time reigning runner-up national champion Beavers find themselves the No. 3 team in the nation to start the season.

Minot State University (MSU) unseated five-time national champion Liberty last March on its way to a second straight title game appearance, coming up just one win shy of the crown as the Beavers fell to Adrian (Mich.), which was the top pick in the preseason poll.

Liberty, who the Beavers dethroned last spring, was the No. 2 pick in the ACHA preseason poll and one of eight Women’s Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) teams in the top 15.

MSU, one of those eight WMCH teams, was third, and Midland (Neb.), also a WMCH member, was fourth.

Other WMCH members in the preseason Top 15 were Maryville (Mo.), ranked No. 5, McKendree (Ill.) was No. 6, the Beavers’ in-state rival, Jamestown, was ranked 12th, Minnesota was ranked 13th, and Lindenwood (Mo.) was ranked 14th.

The MSU women’s hockey team opens the 2024-25 season on the road in a top-5 battle playing at Midland on September 27 and 28.

The Beavers make their home debut at the Maysa Arena on Friday, Oct. 4, hosting Arizona at 7:30 p.m., then battle the Wildcats once again on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, at 3:45 p.m. at the Maysa Arena, the start of eight straight at home for Minot State.

Starting at $2.99/week.
