Football across ND begins to separate teams from the pack
Friday night lights were bright in the pleasant fall sky as football games took place across the North Dakota landscape. Many teams were facing foes with similar records as both hosting and visiting schools were looking to break from the pack and form identities and tighten races for top seeding going forward.
Minot North 35, Wahpeton 21
The Sentinels are now at 2-0 with a second win at home over the visiting Huskies from Wahpeton. Minot North used a balanced run – passing attack to move the ball well, control the clock and turned a 14-0 lead in the second quarter into a 35-21 win in the end.
The Sentinels will travel to West Fargo Horace for next week’s matchup.
Minot High 41, Fargo Shanley 7
The Magicians hit the road with the intent of re-establishing their might against the hosts in Fargo. Minot High did just that with a commanding win. The Magicians never were threatened and led the attack from start to finish.
Next up for Minot High is playing host to Fargo Davies in next week’s action.
Ray/Powers Lake 34, Des Lacs-Burlington 20
In a close matchup in Class A action, Ray/Powers Lake was able to build a two score gap in the win over the Lakers. The battle was between two 1-1 teams working to establish footing in the standings and establish an identity going forward.
Rugby 28, Park River Area 20
The Panthers made the trip to the Park River Area in a battle between 1-1 teams. Rugby won the close contest in the end by one score.
Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn 70, Kenmare-Bowbells-Burke Central 6
The Sioux played host to the Honkers and spent the game testing the scoreboard lights with an offensive output for the record books. KBBC ented the game with a 1-1 record while WNG held a 2-0 mark.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 30, Divide County 6
Divide County traveled with a 2-0 record to MLS who held an 0-2 mark. The outcome was not what the records would have predicted. The win puts wheels back on the machine for MLS while Divide County will need to regroup from the loss to keep their winning ways.
