MSU men’s wrestling announces 2024-25 schedule
Coming off a historic season that saw the Minot State wrestling team host the first NCAA Championship event in Beaver history, the men’s wrestling program is gearing up for another stellar campaign on the mats.
The Beavers start their 2024-2025 season with their annual intrasquad exhibition at the Minot State University (MSU) Dome on Sunday, October 27, then hit the road to open the regular season. They will be competing at the Jamestown Open on November 2, then at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on November 9.
MSU then makes its home debut hosting the 3rd annual Beaver Bash Duals at the MSU Dome on Saturday, November 23, one of six home dates for the men.
Following the stop at home to entertain the Beaver faithful, it’s back on the road to attend the Dragon Open hosted by Minnesota State, Moorhead on December 7, then a trip to one of the premier events in the country, the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indiana, December 14-15.
The Beavers then wrap up the first half of their season, opening their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action at home hosting Wisconsin Parkside on Thursday, December 19, before taking time off for the Christmas break.
“Our schedule will be as challenging as ever this season,” said MSU head coach Evan Forde, who is in his tenth season with the team. “We added the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis this season which is probably the toughest regular-season tournament in Division II. It is as close to the National Championships as you can get in the regular season. Indianapolis also happens to be where the National Tournament will be, so it will be great to get out there in the first semester.”
After the holiday break, the Beavers return to action at home hosting Minnesota State, Mankato in an NSIC dual on Monday, January 6, then hit the road for a quick trip to Bismarck to take on Bismarck State College in a dual.
Then it is back to NSIC action with Minnesota State, Moorhead in town for another Thursday night dual, this time on January 16, before the Beavers compete at Southwest Minnesota State on January 18 at the SMSU Duals.
MSU remains on the road to close out the month of January with NSIC duals at Sioux Falls on January 24 and at Augustana on January 25. The Beavers take on in-state rival Dickinson State in a non-conference dual at the Blue Hawks home on January 31.
MSU wraps up the road trip competing in the Tyler Plummer Classic hosted by Dickinson State on February 1 before heading home for senior weekend, hosting their rivalry match with Mary on Friday night, February 7, then hosting Northern State on Sunday, February 9.
The regular season concludes on February 14 as MSU wrestles an NSIC dual at St. Cloud State before the NCAA Super Region V Tournament on March 1 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
“I am very excited about our team and our schedule should be very exciting,” said Forde.
