Minot Honeybees take win over Mankato
The Minot Honeybees made their final stop on the current road trip with a stop in Mankato to play the Habaneros. Mankato built a 6-2 lead over the first four innings of play. The Honeybees would add four runs at the top of the fifth inning and another two at the top of the seventh inning enroute to the 8-7 win.
The offensive output for the Honeybees started in the top of the third inning when a single to center by Abbie Stigler scored Kaitlynne Allen and Skyler Deitz. Trinity Gregg singled at the top of the fifth inning of play and Allen was walked. Dietz hit a double to left field to score Gregg. One out later Sydney Farmer singled to score Allen and Dietz. Shayna Myshrall hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Farmer and tied the game at 6-6.
The winning runs for Minot came at the top of the seventh inning when Farmer doubled, Myshrall singled and Payton Whitehead was walked. With the bases loaded, and two out, Josie Buhr doubled to right. Farmer and Myshrall each scored for the 8-6 lead.
Mankato would add one more run at the bottom of the seventh before the game ended.
Minot was 13-for-33 at the plate with one error as a team. Farmer was 3-for-4 batting with a pair of RBIs and scored two runs. Myshrall was a perfect 2-for-2 and added one RBI and scored one run. Shannon Nelson was 2-for-3 at the plate while Dietz was 2-for-4 in the win.
Jasmine Blizzard pitched three innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and three home runs by the home team. Jackie Albrecht pitched four innings and allowed two runs on five hits in relief.
Mankato was 12-for-33 batting with one error as a team. Indigo Fish was 3-for-4 at the plate while Amity White, Paige Zender and Brooke Holmes each had two hits in the game. Sailor Hall pitched five innings and allowed six runs on six hits, walked two batters and recorded six strikeouts. Jenna Sprague pitched two innings and allowed two runs on four hits in relief.
Minot will host the Mankato Habaneros for three home games starting Thursday, July 18, at Corbett Field.
