Hot Tots beat Larks, drop two to Rox

BISMARCK — The Sunday, June 9, matchup against the Bismarck Larks had offense start quickly when Tristan Moore was walked to reach base and two batters later, Evan Dempsey was also walked. The bases were loaded when Trae Cassidy singled. Moore would score on a wild pitch before the inning ended. The Larks added two runs of their own at the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead over the Tots.

At the top of the second inning, Lucas Pringle was walked, stole second on a wild pitch and went to third when Keanu Jacobs-Guishard singled. Pringle scored shortly after that. Wyatt Reginato would end up on first after he was walked with two outs.

Tristan Moore shinged. Mateo Serna was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two out. Evan Dempsey hit a single to score Reginato. Trae Cassidy was walked, Moore scored and the Larks changed pitchers. The three runs gave Minot the 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the second inning. The Larks would add three runs of their own to retake the edge at 5-4 at the top of the third inning.

The Tots forced another pitching change with Pringle was walked, Jacobs-Guisard was walked and with one out, Reginato was walked. Pringle scored when Nick Alonso hit into a fielder’s choice. Reginato was caught stealing second and Jacobs-Guishard scored on the same play to give the Tots the 6-5 lead at the middle of the third inning.

Minot would add to that score at the top of the fourth inning of play. Dempsey singled and Cassidy hit a single. Jaeden Jordahl singled to load the bases. With one out, Pringle scored Dempsey and Cassidy with a single into center field giving the Tots the 8-5 lead.

Bismarck added one run at the bottom of the fifth inning and another four runs at the bottom of the sixth with one more at the bottom of the seventh making the score 11-8 for the Larks.

The Tots had a chance at the top of the ninth inning, with bases loaded and two out, Moore hit a single that scored two runs. With two outs, and the bases loaded again, Evan Dempsey singled to score two more runs. Cassidy would add to his hit total with a single that scored another run. Jaeden Jordahl singled and scored a sixth run to give Minot a 14-11 lead.

The bottom of the ninth required the Tots to play defense to protect the lead.

As a team, the Tots were 12-for-37 batting as a team. Cassidy was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Jordahl was 2-for-6 batting while Moore was 2-for-5 with three RBIs as well. Reginato, Serna, Dempsey, Pringle and Jacobs-Guishard each had a hit in the effort.

Kaden Am pitched two innings, he allowed five runs on five hits to start the game. Luke Krouse pitched three innings and allowed four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Rhys Francis pitched two innings and allowed two hits on three runs while Ayden Sauerbrei pitched the last two innings and allowed no runs on one hit and had two strikeouts in finial relief.

St Cloud Rox 14, Hot Tots 1

ST CLOUD, Minn. – On Saturday, June 8, the Rox started with a run at the bottom of the first inning and added seven more at the bottom of the fourth inning enroute to the 14-1 win. Minot was able to get one run at the top of the fourth inning of play.

Evan Dempsey was 3-for-4 at the plate, while Wyatt Reginato was 1-for-2 batting with one RBI as well. Mateo Serna was 1-for-4 at the plate while the Hot Tots were 5-for-28 as a team. Archer Stankowski pitched three innings and allowed five runs on three hits. Anthony Cordero, Ray Keane, Devin Marton, Kell Piggott, Jacob Mallozzi and Dempsey each pitched in relief.

St Cloud Rox 13, Hot Tots 3

ST CLOUD, Minn. – The game placed Friday, June 7, would start as a defensive battle with no runs scored until the top of the fifth inning when Minot put one run on the scoreboard. The Rox tied the game with a run at the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game. The Hot Tots added two runs at the top of the seventh inning for the 3-1 lead. St Cloud Rox added four runs at the bottom of the seventh and 8 runs at the bottom of the eighth inning for the 13-3 win.

The Hot Tots were 6-for-33 at the plate. Jordahl Jaeden was 2-for-3 batting with two RBIs in the game. Trae Cassidy was 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs in the effort. Serna Mateo and Wyatt Reginato each were 1-for-4 batting. Hudson Yarbrough pitched five innings and allowed no runs on three hits in the game. Will Smith pitched one inning while Jaboc Mallozzi pitched an inning as well.
