Minot State athletics 14th in NSIC All-Sports standings

The NSIC announced its updated All-Sports standings with the conclusion of the winter sports season and the Minot State Beavers find themselves 14th overall in the NSIC in the race to be named the league’s top overall athletic department.

Through the fall and winter sports seasons, which include NSIC sponsored sports of football, volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, and men’s wrestling which the Beavers compete in, Minot State finds itself with 50.5 points as an athletic department.

The winner of each title in a conference-sponsored championship receives points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next-place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.

Minnesota State, Mankato, which swept the team titles in men’s and women’s indoor track and field, moved to No. 1 in the overall All-Sports standings with the slimmest of margins over Augustana, which is No. 2. The Mavericks have 125.3 points and the Vikings 125 points.

In the men’s team standings, Minot State is 11th with 22 points. Minnesota State, Mankato leads the men’s team standings with 49.3 points.

On the women’s side, Minot State is 14th with 28.5 points. Augustana is No. 1 in the women’s standings with 78 points.
