Nelson and Nagel of MSU earn spots in NCAA track and field championships

Minot State’s track and field season has concluded, but not for Leif Nelson and Kori Nagel. The pair of Beavers will have one more opportunity to show what they can do, only this time, it will be on the biggest stage for both as they have secured a spot at the 2022 NCAA Division II track and field championships.

The championships will take place at Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. The events will start on Thursday, May 26 and will run through Saturday, May 28.

Nelson, a sophomore, qualified in the men’s javelin and will be ranked No. 16 heading into the event. His fellow competitors are mostly made up of freshman and sophomores. He will compete on Saturday, May 28 at 9:30 a.m.

Nagel qualified in the women’s discus and will be ranked No. 18 heading into the event. Her competitors, however, is slightly different as the freshman will see herself matched up against mostly seniors in the event. She will compete on Friday, May 27 at 4 p.m.

The championships for each event will be available for live streaming on NCAA.com, with the first event starting at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26.
