NDSU’s Glover named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week

Junior middle blocker Michelle Glover has been tabbed Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Glover contributed a team-high 15 total blocks and helped the Bison to a 3-0 record at the Cal Tournament last weekend in Berkeley, Calif. The Wheaton, Ill., native averaged 1.25 blocks per set and added in 34 total kills to go along with a .433 hitting percentage on the offensive side.

Glover, who was named the Cal Tournament Most Valuable Player, helped the Bison earn their first win over a power five opponent since 2010 after registering a season-high 12 kills and .455 hitting percentage in the victory over California. She closed the weekend matching a season-best 12 kills with seven total blocks in the win over Nevada.

Glover has posted at least three blocks in seven matches this season and currently ranks second in the Summit League in total blocks with 39.0.

North Dakota State has won its last four matches and continues its road swing at the Portland State Tournament this weekend in Portland, Ore. The Bison will face Portland State on Friday at 9:00 p.m. CT before wrapping up the trip against Gonzaga on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CT and Portland State at 9:00 p.m. CT.
