Rohde, Malec, Camacho earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors

North Dakota State senior baseball players Tucker Rohde and Jake Malec were named to the CoSIDA Academic-All-District baseball team for Division I, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

Rohde (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Malec (Proctor, Minn.) will both advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors later this summer.

Rohde, a finance major with a 3.73 grade point average, was selected to the All-Summit League second team this season at third base. He hit .261 with 54 total hits in 60 games this season and finished his NDSU career ranking sixth in school history with 200 career games played.

Malec, an exercise science major with a 3.68 GPA, was an All-Summit League first team selection in the outfield this season. He hit .320 for the year, recording 79 hits and nine home runs. Malec was named the Summit League Championship Tournament MVP after the Bison won the league title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He set NDSU single-season records for at-bats (247) and games started (61).

District 6 is comprised of student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution, and be nominated by his sports information director.

The Bison set a school record with 42 wins in 2021, going 42-19 on their way to a Summit League Tournament title and the first NCAA Regional game victory of the school’s Division I era.

Meanwhile, the NDSU softball program also produced an Academic All-District player in outfielder Madyson Camacho. A senior from Homeland, California, Camacho will advance to the ballot for Academic All-America honors later this summer.

Camacho was named to the All-Summit League second team this season, posting a .333 batting average and .372 on-base percentage. She led the Bison with 43 hits, 20 runs scored, and 8 stolen bases in 2021. Camacho finished her Bison career with 191 hits and 112 runs scored and earned a degree from in human development and family science.
