Beavers baseball wins season opener over NW Missouri St. 14-6

In baseball news on Monday, Minot State played its first game of the season and defeated Northwest Missouri State 14-6 in Pittsburgh, Kansas.

The Beavers scored 14 runs on 11 hits and were the benefactor of five Bearcat errors on the day. Offensively, catcher Nolan Monthei, first baseman Kaiden Cardoso and outfielder Jordan Williams each hit home runs as they accounted for a total of eight runs batted in on six hits for MSU.

Meanwhile, RJ Martinez was the winning pitched, going six innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts for the Beavers.

Minot State plans to conclude its brief two-game series against Northwest Missouri on Tuesday. Start time for that game is set for 11 a.m.
