Bismarck Reps come alive late, defeat Minot Metros 11-6

JAMESTOWN — The Minot Metros jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the first inning, but the Bismarck Reps mounted late offense for an 11-6 victory during Wednesday evening’s Class A West Region Tournament state qualifier in Jamestown.

Jonas Bubach, Landyn Almy, Tyler Johnson and Calvin Baker provided important offensive contributions for the Metros in the first inning. The Reps tacked on two runs in their half of the first, but did not score a run in the second inning.

Bismarck scored nine runs over the next three innings. A five-run fifth highlighted that outburst.

The Metros did not plate any runs in the sixth or seventh innings. The Reps tallied 15 total hits and took advantage of five Minot errors.

Three Bismarck batters (Carter Klipfel, Luke Welk and Miles Stiefel) recorded at least three hits. Stiefel drove in two runs during his strong 4-for-4 day at the plate, while Klipfel drove in two additional runs and scored three more.

Minot will face Dickinson in another state qualifier at approximately 2:15 p.m. this afternoon.
