Majettes basketball falls at Century, 70-52

BISMARCK — Although the Minot High School girls basketball team earned some memorable wins over this year’s campaign, the Majettes’ final regular-season contest ended on a tough note.

Minot (10-11, 10-10 WDA) dropped a 70-52 decision to Bismarck Century (19-2, 18-2 WDA) in Bismarck on Tuesday night. The Patriots seized a 37-21 advantage at halftime and never relinquished it.

Despite shooting 8-for-30 (27%) from behind the 3-point arc, the Patriots kept their momentum going. Century’s Julia Fitterer led the way with 14 points.

The Majettes shot 19-for-40 (48%) from the field in the loss. Senior forward Allie Nelson paced the Majettes with a team-high 14 points, but no other Majette finished in double figures.

Century shot 22-for-33 (67%) from the charity stripe. The Majettes committed 21 team fouls.

After capturing the No. 6 seed, the Majettes will host No. 11 Turtle Mountain in a WDA Tournament play-in game on Thursday evening. That game will tip off at 6 p.m.
