Minotauros split two-game series at Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. — After losing Friday night’s contest against the Aberdeen Wings, the Minot Minotauros wanted to make a statement on Saturday night.

The Minotauros (9-4-3) earned a 3-2 victory over the Wings (8-3-5) at Odde Ice Arena. An early lead helped Minot take the win.

Hunter Bjorge (15:34) scored his second goal of the season in the first period. Jay Bucholz and Kyler Kleven provided the assists on the power-play score.

In the second period, the Minotauros quickly increased the lead to 3-0. Dan Russell (0:25) and Cole O’Connell (4:53) found the back of the net.

O’Connell assisted Russell’s goal, while Jack Westlund and Kevin Ness assisted. However, the Wings made their move later in the second period.

Nathan Vertes (8:53) and Noah Etter (17:40) provided the Wings’ counter-attacks. Neither team broke through in the third period, and Minot secured the 3-2 win.

The foes will clash once again at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Maysa Arena.
