Magi wrestling opens dual season with a win over Williston

WILLISTON — The Minot High School wrestling team went on the road and secured a 50-16 victory over Williston (1-1) in its first team dual meet of the season.

“Starting off the dual we had Chase Burke, who is the No. 1-ranked at 160, wrestle the No. 1 at 170 (Comstock Krenz) and beat him,” MHS head coach Justin Racine said. “That just kind of got the ball rolling. Which was good because we had a lot of young faces in the lineup.”

MHS senior Nicholas Juarez won his first varsity match.

Other Magi young guys who impressed Racine included freshman Gabriel Mortensen, eighth-grader Tyler Nelson and sophomore Kyler Byer.

Individual results weren’t available on trackwrestling.com before press deadline.

Minot High is now off for Thanksgiving break. The Magi will return to action on Dec. 5 in Watford City.
