Magi wrestling cruises past Bismarck Legacy, 54-18

The Minot High wrestling team (13-4, 7-2 West Region) asserted its dominance at home on Friday, defeating Bismarck Legacy (6-7, 3-5 West Region) by a score of 54-18.

After the Sabers struck first with a fall at the 106, junior Kelby Armstrong knotted the score with a fall of his own against Legacy’s Blaize Burtness in the second minute of the first round.

Now trailing, 12-6, the Magicians finished the dual on a 42-12 run to secure the victory. Earning falls for the Magi was junior Carter Peterson over Caedmon Marx at the 138, junior Trevon McClanahan over Drake Stugelmeyer at the 145, sophomore Chase Burke over Riley Martin at the 152, junior Preston Jones over Joshua Haag at the 220 and sophomore Asher Woods over Keaton Erhardt at the 285.

Earning decision wins for Minot was senior Samuel Goodman at the 132 and freshman Jordin Lennon at the 160.

Next up for Minot is an invitational at Larimore High School today. The starting time has yet to be determined.
