Majettes take second, Magi sixth at West Region Cross Country Meet

BISMARCK — The Minot High cross country teams traveled to Bismarck Saturday to compete in the West Region Meet at the McDowell Dam.

The Majettes regained their stride, finishing in a close second behind Bismarck Century. The Magi took sixth at the meet.

Running with fresh legs, the Majettes were able to capture a second place finish with an 80 behind Bismarck Century with a 75. Mandan took third with a 109.

Abby Hoffarth and Allie Wahlund went one and two for the Majettes, finishing 11th and 12th. Hoffarth finished with a 19:46.93 with Wahlund just behind at 19:49.81.

Trinity Jessen finished in 16th with a final time of 20:44.54. Lilly Campbell and MaLiah Burke rounded out the top five for the Majettes, finishing 19th and 22nd.

The Magi took sixth with a total of 185 and finishing behind Williston (49), Legacy (64), Century (78), Bismarck (91) and Jamestown (163).

William Walker-Rozo was the top finisher for the Magi, finishing in 20th at 16:57.25. Rounding out the top five for the Magicians includes Noah Jacobs, David Meza, Austin Geyer and Cameron Goodman.

Diehl brothers take fifth in doubles at state

GRAND FORKS — The Minot High tennis season came to a close Saturday with the final matches of the State Individual Tournament at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks.

Five Magi moved on from day to compete in the consolation singles and doubles brackets.

Senior Rory Taney fell to Valley City’s Blake Triebold in the consolation semifinals, marking the end of his state tournament run.

The Minot High doubles pairs faced off Saturday for a spot in the fifth place match. Brothers Mason and Zach DIehl defeated fellow Magicians Peyton Huss and Jack Wolsky in straight sets of 6-4 and 6-1.

Mason and Zach Diehl were able to defeat a duo from Legacy in straight sets to claim the fifth place win.
