Beavers volleyball back in the win column

DICKINSON — The Minot State volleyball team snapped a two-match losing streak with a road sweep of Dickinson State (NAIA) Tuesday evening by set scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-19.

Trailing 21-17, the Beavers (11-13) used an 8-0 run to come from behind and win the first set. A late 6-1 rally by the Bluehawks (4-17) made the second set appear a lot closer than it was. The third and final frame was tied for the last time at 16-16 before MSU pulled away to seal the non-conference victory.

Fifteen different MSU players saw playing time, as head coach Dana Cordova rotated in players frequently.

The Beavers were led by Nicole Wondrasek with 13 kills, Shelby Spuller with 10 kills and Hayley Swain with nine kills on just 14 attack attempts. Kelsey Dewulf stayed in her setter role throughout the match and provided 38 assists. Libero Karli Koza racked up 15 digs to go with two out the Beavers’ seven aces.

Dickinson State was held to 30 kills in the match with Kadara Marshall putting down a team-high seven kills.

MSU resumes conference play this weekend by going on the road to face Augustana on Friday and Wayne State on Saturday.
