Biblical knowledge exposes false teachers
Steve Moen, Minot
I found the pastor’s disparaging remarks about the bills being passed by the legislature in their letter to the editor disconcerting to say the least. The most troubling is their apparent lack of Biblical knowledge and them being the shepherds of their flocks. Their opinions don’t matter, God’s Word does.
Paul states in Galatians 1:7-8 “but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” Matthew 1:21 states “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Notice the angel said FROM their sins not IN their sins. That’s a huge difference. Also Luke 13 “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” These sinners who these pastors are supporting are unrepentant; they need to repent.
Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, 1 Kings 14:24 along with Romans 1:18-32, Revelations 22:14-15 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 tells us that God’s wrath will come down on unrepentant sinners and lists those who won’t inherit the kingdom of God. These include fornicators, idolaters, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, murders, sorcerers, drunkards, revilers, extortioners, haters of God, and many others which include the LGBTQ crowd that these pastors tell us are normal. Things are not good for any unrepentant sinners; there are no exceptions. But Paul concludes in 1Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” There is hope for all of us but these pastors aren’t telling us that. Instead they are like the false prophets in Jeremiah’s day.
Jeremiah 23:21-22 “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran. I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in My counsel, and had caused My people to hear My words, then they would have turned them from their evil way and from the evil of their doings. These pastors aren’t preaching God’s Word but are as Isaiah 5:20 says “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;” There is nothing more heinous and cruel than knowingly giving false hope to unrepentant sinners and that is just what these false teachers are doing. Knowing that all unrepentant sinners are on the fast track to hell and they’re just wishing them a safe trip. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” Also 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
There is hope, but not in our sins. We need Christ, His mercy, His grace, His forgiveness as found in Ephesians 2:8-10: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
These are not my opinions but are God’s Word.
