I’ll vote for that

Diane Zander, Minot

I believe in the common good. I believe when people are happy, good things happen. Pollyanna-ish? I’d pit my Pollyanna against a Scrooge any day. (cue my frequent dislike of the MDN political cartoons)

I would for sure recycle more than the cardboard I do now. But I also think it doesn’t make sense until we in the US create the repurposed production ideas and facilities. Shipping it overseas cannot be the answer.

I think taking any best-practices care of our planet just makes sense.

I like getting the MDN six days a week. I like Saturday morning Wagon Train, Rawhide, a cuppa-coffee and the fattest paper of the week. I now have two days to peruse the paper and do my anti-dementia five crossword puzzles until another paper is delivered to my door. I can imagine how hard it is to keep print news viable at all; the next generations read their phones, not a paper. I hope MDN employees like the new schedule. I can find Saturday scores if I want to. Hopefully I attended the game or match.

I don’t need mail on Saturday. Good, efficient mail service five days a week would be enough. I bet mailpersons would appreciate weekends off.

Yup – the blue laws were fine by me. I have heard the discourse about ‘somebody won’t get a paycheck then’, but have you noticed it’s the blue collars that work weekends, not the white collars?

I would like a gathering space where we could light a big, beautiful city Christmas tree – instead of it being in the middle of a street.

The common good, a kinder, cleaner, less chaotic world… all get this Pollyanna’s vote.
