Boy Scouts organization a victim of sexual predators

Millions of American boys, along with millions of others worldwide, became better men because of the Boy Scouts. For them, the more than century-old organization helped build character and taught valuable skills. But more than 12,000 boys in the scouts became victims of the adults they and their parents trusted. According to the Boy Scouts of America, that is the number of youths who were molested by about 7,800 abusers within the organization. Now, the BSA has filed for bankruptcy protection. Why? MADC, Chamber merger may be down the road

A merger is being contemplated between the Minot Area Development Corp. and the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce. MADC is the nonprofit organization with the responsibility to attract new businesses, aid in business expansion and retention, and advocate for the local business economy to make sure the city remains a top location for businesses. The MADC website notes the organization was founded in 1955. Last week the Minot Chamber board voted to pursue a potential merger between the two entities. Jesse White on the way to more milestones

White Shield junior Jesse White reached a milestone on Friday night when he scored his 2,000th point in the Class B boys basketball game played against Solen. Congratulations, Jesse. The Minot Daily News Sports Department reported it was a big night for Jesse, his team, family and friends, his school and his community when he accomplished this goal during the last game of the regular season for the White Shield warriors. Much at stake with country’s first digital census

The once-a-decade collection of information about Americans may well go down in history as the first digital Census. Let us hope it also is not recorded as an electronic fiasco. Officials at the U.S. Census Bureau will be utilizing tons of state-of-the-art technology in gathering information this year.
