Jesse White on the way to more milestones
White Shield junior Jesse White reached a milestone on Friday night when he scored his 2,000th point in the Class B boys basketball game played against Solen.
Congratulations, Jesse.
The Minot Daily News Sports Department reported it was a big night for Jesse, his team, family and friends, his school and his community when he accomplished this goal during the last game of the regular season for the White Shield warriors.
This is a big accomplishment for Jesse, who broke a record of 1,965 points set by Greg Johnson from Roseglen, a White Shield Warriors team member, set in 1974, but Jesse also has the third-most points (2,005) all-time for players from the Fort Berthold Reservation.
Now Jesse will attempt to break records set by Randy Hedberg from Parshall (2,006 points) and Ron Waggoner from New Town (2,714 points)
Jesse has come a long way since he started playing basketball in White Shield when he was a seventh grader.
What Jesse has done shows if you have a goal, you can accomplish it.
Next for Jesse is the District 15 Tournament in Watford City on Friday when he and his team play against Trenton. We anticipate Jesse will be breaking another record there.
