Ronald Lee Newman, 75, of Beulah ND, went home on April 8th, 2026. Services will be 11:00am CST, Monday, April 13th, 2026 at Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah. Pastor John Fanella officiating. Memorial visitation will be held 4-6 pm CST on Sunday, April 12th at Barbot Funeral Home.
Ron was born October 5, 1950, to Kenneth and Emily (Domsten) Newman, in Minot, ND.
Growing up and graduating from Minot High School, Ron was an avid pool player and horseshoe state champion. He loved playing games and tricks on his family. He attended Minot State College, where he met a cute girl in math class, Ruth E. Nelson. During spring break of 1971, Ron and Ruth married on March 12th, and recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, he worked in retail management for six years. During this time they were blessed with four children. The family then moved to Williston, where he was the SBM (Small Business Management) Program Instructor at UND-W. Spanning the rest of his working career, he was a Collegiate Business Professor in ND, MN, and KS. He took great pride in helping businesses succeed.
Ron loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family. His family was “basically” everything to him, and he was happiest when he was with them all. His boys have fond memories of dad picking them up from school, guns in hand, ready for their next pheasant hunting adventure. As soon as any gaming system or new technology came out, Ron would be the first in line to get it, since he had a lot of business connections. From beta machines, 8 tracks, Nintendos, to the latest PlayStation…along with juke boxes, pinball machines, and yard sales and auctions, Ron loved to get a “prized possession.”
The grandchildren will always remember the games they played with Grandpa. He would make up homemade games with “Grandpa’s rules.” We still have them written down and the last rule of every game read “Grandpa is the rulemaker and the judge.” From board games, dice and card games to online gaming with his family, games were his connection to his greatest loves, his family, connecting us all.
Ron’s faith was strong and was a proud member of his Beulah Congregational Family.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth. Three sons; Barret, Platte City, MO, Jerrod (Jackie), South Dakota, and Terry (Lorisa), Beulah, ND. Grandchildren; Dashon (Teresa), Kennedi (Jayden), Mason, Ty (Lindsey), Kael, Christoffer, Nora, Paige, & Brynn. Great-Grandchild; Ryker. Brother Bob (Elaine), Katy, TX. Sister, Cindy (Jim) Harmon, Sedalia, MO. And many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristelle Marie, granddaughter, Isabella Faith, his parents, and in-laws, Elmer and Beulah Nelson.
Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
