Betty Roloff

Nov. 29, 1933-Jan. 14, 2026

Minot

Betty Roloff, 92, Minot, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in her home with her family by her side, listening to the gospel hymns of one of her favorite music groups, The Dakota Drifters.

Betty Lou Weeks was born on November 29, 1933, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot, ND, to Raymond and Grace (Waggoner) Weeks. She was raised on a farm in rural Des Lacs. After graduating from Des Lacs High School in 1951, she attended Minot Business College.

Betty worked for many years in the Ward County Register of Deeds Office, and it was in the cafeteria of the Ward County Courthouse where she met a Highway Patrolman named Herman Roloff. Betty and Herman were married on April 19, 1959 at Vincent Methodist Church in Minot. They made their home in the Burlington area and in 1965, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Jill Colleen. Betty went on to work for Midwest Motor Express for 25 years and then for Interiors Plus.

Betty enjoyed family and friends. One of her favorite things was making and sending cards. If you were one of the lucky ones to receive one of her cards, you would find the inside message heartfelt and neatly typed. The only thing hand-written would be her signature at the bottom.

Betty was a member of the Frozen Fingers Music Association where she volunteered her time, enjoyed listening to the music, and made life-long friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Word Find puzzles. She loved all animals but had a very special place in her heart for dogs. There was nothing that could bring a smile quicker than a dog coming into view. She cared for several in her home and also volunteered at the Souris Valley Animal Shelter. At times she could be found with dog treats in her pocket or her walker pouch, just in case she had a 4-legged visitor. She was a member of the Des Lacs Methodist Church and Zion Lutheran Church in Minot where she was a choir member and helped with other church activities.

Herman passed away on May 12, 2021 and on October 29, 2022, she lost her daughter, Jill. It was then, Betty decided to move into an assisted living facility, the Minot Lodge. Betty enjoyed the activities and outings, made many new friends, and became known at the Lodge as the “Fudge Lady”. Still making her famous fudge at 92, she shared it with family, friends, visitors, residents, staff, and neighbors, and was even known to deliver to her doctors upon her visits. Sharing her fudge was her way of showing her appreciation for what your presence meant to her. She was so grateful and appreciative for even the smallest things and wouldn’t hesitate to let you know.

Betty is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Roloff; brother-in-law, Arlo Moberg; nieces, Sharlene (Ben) Weltikol, Sandy McCloud, Cathy Moberg, Carol (Jack) Gossman, Connie (Rod) Brumlow, Marcia Britton, Joanne (Paul) Stagl, Janet (David) Shaw, Joan (Terry) Tofte, Teresa
