Janette D. Ahmann, Minot, ND, formerly of Cody, WY, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2025, at Somerset Court, Minot, ND.
She was born September 23, 1930, the daughter of Holton and Minnie (Anderson) Jacobson, in Velva, ND. She was raised and educated in Velva, Indian Hill, and Williston, ND and Powell, WY where she graduated in 1948. She attended NWCC for 1 year while working in the Registrar’s office. She loved class reunions.
Janette married Kenneth P. Severson on November 19, 1953, in Sidney, MT. They lived in Williston until September 1971 and then moved to Cody, WY. They were blessed with five children. Kenneth died on June 17, 1992. She then married Tom Bell, who also passed away. She then married Duane Ahmann on December 14, 2002. Duane died on September 17, 2016.
Janette loved many things including dancing, bowling, yard work, crocheting, knitting, embroidering, oil painting, bingo, and playing E-tab machines. Most of all she loved her family. At each of her setbacks, she would muster up more strength and courage to carry on. In her younger years, she was active in various choirs and served as secretary for 6 years at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston and various offices of the Association for Retarded Citizens in Cody, WY, what was instrumental in getting the charter for the Special Touch schools in the early 1970’s. Helping the handicapped was a special concern of hers.
Janette also worked many years as a secretary for the Bureau of Reclamation at Heart Mountain, WY, Billings, MT, and Ephrata, WA. At one time she worked for Amerada Hess Corporation in Williston. She also worked for Nielson Enterprises Inc., and Y-Tex Corporation in Cody. She dealt with oil and gas leases, payroll and personnel.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cody, the VFW, Eagles Auxiliaries and the Cody TOPS Club.
Her loving family includes: several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; three sons, Kendall Severson, Gary Severson, and Kevin Severson; and two daughters, Janelle Garaas and Carol Richter,
Janette’s wishes were to be cremated, and no service will be held.
