Baltimore, Md.

Mary Kathryn “Marikay” Luzier (nee Kaltsukis), born on July 31, 1953, in Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was 72 years old.

Family was at the heart of Mary’s world. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Jessica (Luzier) Lanzillotti and Leyna (Luzier) Drapeaux; her grandchildren Lexi Luzier, Levon Luzier, Lola Drapeaux, and Bradley Drapeaux; her siblings Rebecca (Kaltsukis) Hayes, Gail Kaltsukis, and John Kaltsukis.

She now joins in rest her beloved son Burnie Luzier; sister Roberta Kaltsukis; and parents George Kaltsukis and Mary (Metz) Placek.

Mary dedicated her life to helping others, both professionally and personally. As a certified substance abuse counselor, she found deep purpose in supporting individuals through their recovery journeys. Her compassion and commitment to service extended beyond her career and into every aspect of her life.

A proud Episcopalian, Mary was deeply involved with her church community. Her faith guided her actions and inspired her to give generously of her time and spirit. Whether through counseling or church outreach, she touched many lives with kindness and understanding.

Mary’s vibrant personality shone through in everything she did. She was an active member of the Red Hat Ladies group, where she found joy in friendship and celebration. She had a passion for crafting and baking–her creations often brought smiles to those around her. Antiquing and shopping were favorite pastimes that reflected her appreciation for beauty and history. Music also played a special role in her life; she loved attending concerts and sharing those experiences with loved ones.

There will be a celebration of life in Yankton, S.D. in the summer of 2026.
