Kevin Simko, 61, of Mohall, ND, passed away in his home on Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Kevin Francis Simko was born July 10, 1964, to John and Mary (Speece) Simko in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised and educated in Willingboro, New Jersey, graduating from Willingboro High School in 1982.
Kevin enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 10, 1983. He completed Basic Military Training and Security Specialist Technical School at Lackland AFB in Texas, then went on to serve at bases across the world- including New York, the Republic of Korea, South Dakota, Hawaii, Montana, and New Jersey. He also completed multiple TDY assignments, including deployments to the Middle East after 9/11.
Over his 20 years of honorable service, Kevin received numerous awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and multiple unit and service ribbons, several adorned with oak leaf clusters and service stars. He was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant on June 30, 2003. Where he then continued to serve as a civilian for the United States Air Force for 19 additional years and received awards for Exemplary Civilian Service.
On February 11, 1984, Kevin married the love of his life, Brenda Roach, at Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Willingboro, NJ. Together they raised their three children, Cheryl, Jonathan, and Madison, supporting one another through every new posting, every new landscape, and every new chapter that military life brought. Because of his dedicated military service, Kevin and his family moved often, creating a life defined not by a single place but by the strength, love, and adaptability they carried with them wherever they went.
Kevin was a member of the NRA and the Minot Gun Club. He cherished time spent outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and shooting. He also found joy in gardening and cooking, sharing meals and traditions with the people he loved most.
Left to honor and remember Kevin are: his wife of 41 years, Brenda; children, Cheryl (Theodore Marshall) Simko, Jonathan (Christina Lafortune) Simko, and Madison (Sam Erickson) Simko; grandchildren, Quincy and Virgil Marshall, Paisley and Willow Simko, and A.J. Lafortune-Garcia; brothers: John (Lynette) Simko and David Simko; sisters: Mary (Don) Flanary, Debbie (Edward) Holmes, Joan (Wayne) Smith, Christine (Stephan) Adelsberger, Judy (John) Bay, Laurie (Edward) Schwebel, and Trisha Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Monday, November 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Minot Baptist Church, Minot.
Funeral: Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Minot Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment: Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
