Deering
Clifford Nerem, 80, Deering, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at his home.
Clifford Glenn Nerem was born on September 25, 1945, a son of Melvin and Elizabeth (Wiltse) Nerem in Minot, ND. He was raised on the family farm near Deering, ND, where he attended school.
On January 12, 1966, Clifford enlisted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on January 12, 1968.
On September 3, 1966, Clifford was united in marriage to Myra Mogard. They made their home on the Nerem farm, north of Deering, ND. To this union three children were born, Travis, Tracy, and Tammy. Together the family raised Gelbvich Cattle. The couple later divorced.
On October 17, 1997, Clifford was united in marriage to Zethel “Ginny” Dunivan. They made their home on the Nerem farm, where they continued to ranch. Cliff and Zethel were honored to raise their grandson Austin from the time he was two years of age. Together they enjoyed fishing, attending rodeos and the ranching life.
In addition to ranching, Cliff was very active within the Deering community. He served as the Janitor at the Deering Public School, drove school bus, and coached the Deering girl’s basketball team, as his two daughters were playing. He also served as a McHenry County Commissioner for a time.
He enjoyed attending the Medora Musical, shooting darts, Louis L’Amour western books, and going out to eat Chinese food. One of his favorite past-times was driving with Sully, his four-legged canine friend, and then to his son, Travis’, shop for morning coffee
This past weekend, Clifford celebrated his 80th birthday with a party. He was purely delighted to see so many friends and family. He was touched by how many turned out for it and he was on cloud nine for a couple of days afterward.
