Susan Rintoul, 69, Minot, ND, died on June 18, 2025, in a car accident on I-94 in Minnesota.

Born January 10, 1956, in Bottineau, North Dakota to Jacob and Christine (Krenzel) Schaan. Susan grew up in Willow City, ND.

Susan earned her BSN at Minot State University and worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Trinity Nursing Home.

Susan and her husband Richard were married on June 29, 1979, at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. Susan gave birth to ten children.

Susan was a devout Catholic, devoted mother and grandmother, and had a multitude of talents and social graces.

Susan was involved in the Franciscan Associates, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, ND Dem-NPL, and filled numerous roles at St. John the Apostle and Little Flower Catholic Churches.

She will be remembered as an adoptive mother or “Grandma Susan” by many.

Susan was preceded in death by her sons: Isaac and Thomas; her parents: and her siblings, Esther Dove; Peter, Gerald, Veronica and Cecilia Schaan.

Surviving Family includes: Husband, Richard Rintoul, Minot; children, Clare (Adam) Pettis, OH, Peter Rintoul, Minot, ND, Dominic Rintoul, MT, Heidi Rintoul, CT, Rebecca (Jacob) Thomas, Minot, ND, Christine (Jack) Colon, MN, Samantha Rintoul, Minot, Giselle Rintoul, MN; grandchildren, Seth Pettis, Isaac Rintoul, Shaylie Harlow, Ada Thomas, and Ash Thomas; siblings, Meinrad Schaan, GA, Jacob Schaan, CA, Ida Kirchmeier, Williston, Mary Parker, MI, Henry (Carla) Schaan, AZ, Kathy (Gary) Kennedy, Harvey, Monica Hendrickson, Lakota; sister-in-law, Franca Schaan, CA.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
