It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathan “Nate” Theodore Gibson, 77, of Minot, North Dakota. He ended his battle with cancer on June 10, 2025, surrounded by his family in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nathan was born in Powers Lake, North Dakota on July 21, 1947, to Ted and Dolly Gibson. He was the third of four children blessing that union. His parents instilled deeply held values of faith, family, and service to country. Nathan enjoyed his childhood growing up in rural North Dakota where he developed a love for hunting and the outdoors. This remained constant throughout his life. He joined the Army in 1965 following high school where he served in Germany and Czechoslovakia. In 1968, Nathan met the love of his life, Marlys Baker, in Minot, ND, after his discharge from the military. The two married June 13, 1970, in Minot, North Dakota. They were blessed with 2 children, Lisa and Lance, and enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.
Nathan’s love of hunting and engaging with people, found him in a lifelong career in sales which began at Big Bear Sporting Goods Store. He worked briefly at GMC Neilson Stewart, and finished his career in agriculture chemical sales with Agsco, UAP, and Crop Production Services. Nathan’s interpersonal skills and work ethic earned him several accolades to include salesman of the year. He retired in 2013 and spent his time hunting, volunteering at the food pantry, working in his garage, and doing yard work. He and Marlys wintered in Las Vegas, NV, with their children and grandchildren. Nathan was a gifted handyman always eager to help his kids with home improvements of any kind. He happily picked his grandkids up from school daily and spent weekends attending their football games and activities. Nathan enjoyed spending time with family and watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings and Vegas Golden Knights!
Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Marlys; his children, Lisa (Darryl Glover) and Lance (Krystle); forever cherished by his grandchildren, Alonso, Mia, Vincent, Julian, Ajya, and Melody; siblings and their families; Vaughn and JoNell, TheaDonna and Merlyn, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
